Botox (or Dysport) are two cosmetic injectables which relax and weaken muscles near the injection point. Both block a chemical called Acetylcholine. Muscle contraction causes wrinkles, so these neurotoxins relax the muscles, resulting in fewer wrinkles.
Dysport is much less expensive
Although there are some significant differences between Dysport treatment and Botox, the cost of both treatments is almost the same. A Dysport unit costs approximately 1/3 of the price of a Botox. Both neuromodulators work equally well and can be used for cosmetic purposes.
The cost of Dysport is much less than that of the other treatments, but the Dysport results are quicker and last for longer. In just two to three days, most people can notice noticeable changes. A Dysport treatment may be less expensive than multiple Botox procedures.
It diffuses a lot more
Botox and Dysport have different effects on the skin. Botox can stay within the injection site longer and lasts for a longer time, while Dysport spreads better and covers more area. This allows for larger areas to be treated and requires fewer injections. However, the effectiveness of Botox may not be as great as Dysport.
Both Botox, Dysport and Dysport contain biologic processor proteins. The proteins in these neuromodulators protect the toxin and keep it working properly. These proteins can affect the way that the toxin gets injected and how it diffuses.
It reduces glabella lines
Botox is an effective treatment for reducing frown lines (or glabellar) in the forehead. These lines are above the eyebrows, and are caused from the repeated movement in the brow muscles. This injectable treatment can reduce glabellar lines, and prevent new ones from forming. It can also smoothen existing lines.
Botox is a temporary treatment that lasts three to four month and does not require downtime. The results are noticeable between two and three days after the treatment and continue to last for three to four months. The glabellar lines can also be treated with Juvederm. Juvederm, like Botox does not prevent glabellar wrinkles from developing. The injectable smooths existing wrinkles in less than 10 minutes. It is ideal for treating stubborn glabellar lines because it lasts for up to three to four months.
It is more effective
Dysport and Botox are both effective for treating wrinkles, but they have some differences. Botox is more concentrated, and can be used over a larger area like the forehead. Dysport, however is less concentrated. The main differences between the injectables are the dosage and the time it takes to work.
Both products can cause bruising or swelling, and may cause side effects. Dysport patients need to be aware of potential side effects. For instance, bruising and swelling are normal, but patients should avoid lying down after the injection. Patients should refrain from exercising for a minimum of four hours after receiving the treatment. Both drugs are not remarkably different in how they work, but they differ structurally and molecularly, and some people might experience side effects from both.
It is safer
While both Botox and Dysport are effective, they come with certain risks. While both injectables can be used safely, it is important to talk with your doctor about potential side effects before you go under the needle. These neurotoxins are known to cause complications, including Botulinum toxicity, which occurs when an injection spreads to another part of the body.
Although the main ingredient in both injections is the same, the two products differ in trace protein levels, making one treatment more effective than the other. Both products are under investigation to find out which one is more safe and effective. Botox is quicker to dry, but both injections can be administered in minutes.
